Alberobello
Alberobello is one of three cities in Apulia which is on
the UNESCO world-heritage-list. Alberobello
is situated some twenty kilometres south-east of Monopoli,
over the hill 300 meters above sea-level in the charming valle d'Itria. In Alberobello
large areas are habituated by the
trullis,
small igloo-like stone houses alongside contorted cobble stone
roads, climbing the hillside.
Today the town Alberobello is
situated on two hills, originally separated by a river. The modern part is
situated on the east-side and on the western hill lies the old habitat from the
16-hundreds with the trullis.
